The first step to selling goods or services to the City is to register on-line with the Purchasing Department. Here is a link for on-line registration . The registration process requires you to select commodity codes for which you want to receive bid notifications. The City uses its own commodity code list which is divided into nine classes of commodities. You should list all commodity codes that you believe would apply to your business. When the City issues a bid using one of the commodity codes listed for your firm, you will receive e-mail or fax notification depending on which method of notification you have selected. The notification will then provide you with instructions on how to download the particular bid.
Remember it is your responsibility to update your vendor registration when any changes occur. If you are receiving fax notification, the notification is addressed to the contact person. E-mail notification is addressed to the email address provided. If these individuals leave your firm, you will need to update your registration.
Also, keep in mind that fax notifcation may not work for you if you only have one line for fax and telephone and you must manually switch between the two.
The City wil delete your registration if multiple bouncebacks occur or if your mail system requires verification.
While registering as a vendor with the City places that vendor on the bid list for the commodities selected, it does not guarantee notification of bid opportunities. The City will make every attempt to notify registered bidders of bid opportunities. All bids will be posted on this website and advertised in the local newspaper. |
