Community Planning
Community Planning is responsible for developing Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan (HCD), creation of databases for informed decision making progress, special studies, zoning/rezoning review in cooperation with the Metropolitan Planning Commission, coordination of intergovernmental relations on planning issues, program development, development and implementation of neighborhood plans. The neighborhood plans are “urban redevelopment plans” as defined under Georgia Urban Redevelopment Law is officially adopted by the Mayor and Aldermen, provide blue-prints for budgeting, improvements and setting City policies with respect to City services. The planning process typically takes 12 to 16 months and involves considerable data collection and analysis, and citizen participation.
